 Samsung Electronics has announced 30 - nanometer 64 Gigabit (Gb) Flash memory chip . It is first time developed by a company . This will enable the company to produce a 1.8 -inch solid state drive with 512GB of data storage capacity, TG Daily reports. Also, 16 of these 30 nm 64 Gb NAND Flash chips (one chip represents 8 GB of storage) can be packed into a memory card form factor, such as SD or CF-II, providing 128GB of capacity. Samsung plans to put the chips into mass production by 2009. Currently, the highest-capacity Samsung 1.8-inch SSD has 64GB of storage space . The 1.8'' form factor is commonly used in consumer electronics products, as well as in some sub-notebooks and ultra-mobile PCs.
