 Qualcomm launched a chip which will make easier to build laptops compatable with the 2 domina cellular broadband technologies in United States. The major AT&T uses the High Speed-Packet Access technology for data transfer and Verizon and Sprint uses the Evolution-Data Optimised technology. They compete with the WI-FI technology. These technologies try to improve the speed at which the data is send with a minimum cost. The HSPA technology seem to be dominant. The Qualcomm new Gobi chip has introduced chips that will set either of the 2 available technology. This computer chips will be available in the market in the second quarter of 2008. This chip may increase the choices for the users. Both the technology fight with each other but also against WI FI.
